Libman — Dance Spot
Client: Libman · Agency: McFadden Gavender
Overview
McFadden Gavender brought Luminary a national spot for Libman with a simple goal: make the most ordinary chore in the house feel like a party. The result is a film where people of every age and background dance their way through every room in the home — all powered by one Libman mop and bucket.
The Challenge
The client's dream track was "Drop It Like It's Hot," but licensing it didn't fit the media buy. We had to keep the energy and the hook without the song, while proving the product's ease and versatility across every floor type in the house — wood, tile, kitchen, bathroom, laundry — in a single national spot.
The Idea
Chore as celebration. We moved to a soundalike track and kept the original phrase alive as bold on-screen text, so the idea survived the licensing hurdle intact. Then we filled every room with a diverse cast mopping to the beat — the product's versatility baked right into the joy of the performance.
The Craft
Performance drove everything. We cast for people with definable, syncopated movement, ran playback in every room, and gave each performer moves that fit who they were. That freedom produced the spot's standout moment: a comedic cast member with big, fearless energy launching into a high kick off a washer and dryer, mop in hand — a happy accident we couldn't have scripted. A gimbal carried the camera from floor to face and wrapped around the dancers, and the edit is cut tight to the beat with punch-ins, pullbacks, and movement, integrating the client's required graphics. Jacob directed, DP'd, and edited.
Working with the team
McFadden Gavender and Libman were open to adapting when the music licensing changed — and that flexibility is what kept the spot's personality intact. Giving the cast room to play, rather than drilling rigid choreography, turned a product demonstration into something people want to watch.
