Next Door & Window — "Someone to Trust"

Client: Next Door & Window · Agency: Maclyn

Filmed in Chicago, IL

Overview

Next Door & Window is a local door and window company in the Naperville area outside Chicago. They came to Maclyn wanting a polished, story-driven commercial that also covered the services and qualities that set them apart. Maclyn brought in Luminary for the elevated, cinematic look they lean on us for.

The Challenge

Local home-service companies often run spots produced by the TV stations they buy airtime from, bundled with the ad buy. They get the job done but tend to look alike. Next Door & Window wanted to stand out in their market. The creative challenge inside that: an interview format can easily slide into a news-style, ENG look, and this needed to feel cinematic while still feeling real.

The Idea

A husband and wife sit down for an interview in the spirit of Modern Family, telling us about their experience and the results. Their story carries us into their home to see the finished product, and into the Next Door & Window showroom, where they work with the sales and service team.

The Craft

The heart of this film is performance. We directed Justin to a natural, grounded The interview was built from real questions, and the actors were given room to spin their answers. Some of the best lines came from those authentic beats, balanced with the messaging the client needed. Jacob shot it polished and cinematic rather than documentary, so the interview reads as storytelling, not news. Supers, on-screen text, and visual effects carry the service information separately from the dialogue, so the performances can stay natural. The final story came together in the edit, finding the funny moments and the meaningful ones. Jacob directed, shot, and edited.

Working with the team

Maclyn has some of the best creatives we work with, and we've collaborated on many projects over the years, including Dunkin' × Justin Fields. We developed the interview approach and lines together, a true back-and-forth from concept to cut.
